Back To Nature is an eco-friendly guesthouse and restaurant located 2 km (about 40 minutes walk) up the river from the village of Bukit Lawang, North Sumatra, Indonesia.
Bukit Lawang, literally translated means ‘door to the hill’, is the gateway to the Gunung Leuser National Park (TNGL) where Orang Utans may be seen on a jungle trek and on a lucky day, close to our guesthouse.
If you are looking for a place to stay in the middle of nature, surrounded by the jungle and it’s wildlife inhabitants, Back To Nature is the perfect place for you! The guesthouse and restaurant is away from all traffic, tourist areas and party zones ensuring a very private and tranquil jungle experience, whilst still be easily accessible; from the airport in Medan to the jungle of Bukit Lawang is only about 3 hours!
Once you have arrived in Bukit Lawang, the staff of Back To Nature will happily meet you and help carry your bags for the beautiful walk along the river to the guesthouse which is full of peace, relaxation and fresh air.
The guesthouse provides four big rooms in wood and bamboo style with own bathrooms, two of them standard rooms and two with river/garden view. From the big front balcony you overlook the river and face "the big green wall", a hypnotizing hillslope of Gunung Leuser National Park where wildlife can often be seen.
The river doubles as a refreshing bath and the waterfall located behind the restaurant is perfect for a reinvigorating shoulder, back or head massage.
While staying at Back To Nature you may catch sight of a wide array of different species of local wildlife: macaque- thomas leaf- grey leaf-monkeys, black siamang and white handed gibbon, various kinds of lizards and colourful butterflies and birds. And,with a little bit of luck, even orang utans can be spotted...
The prices for our rooms are 300.000 IDR (standard room) and 350.000 IDR (room with river/garden view) per night.
We accept Indonesian Rupiah, Euros, Australian and US-Dollars.
Payment directly in cash at the reception.
