" Serviced apartments for the win. Good value albeit a little dated. Nice pool, breakfast and services. Great location. "

" I’ve booked this accommodation via Agoda and was very frustrated with the whole booking process. The property wrongly charged my credit card even though I’ve selected pay at property right after confirming booking. 5 days before arrival, the hotel told me there was something wrong with the room and that my booking was simply cancelled. The hotel offered to rebook but Agoda told me they couldn’t do that. Very confusing. So I booked another place on my own. Worst booking experience ever. Be very careful when booking this property "

" It's a service apartment catering to short and long stay guests, location is fantastic, plenty of restaurants and cheap food stalls around. The MRT Station Bencoolen is just in front of the building. Breakfast spread was adequate. The rooms look old. Reception is not 24 hours but they do have staff manning the front desk after reception hours. Gym and pool facilities in the building. "

" Hotel is good but the best part is kitchen. You can cook whatever you want. Hard to get in other hotels "

" Great spacious apartments. We had a 2 bedroom apartment. It is a dated building but in saying that very clean and comfortable. Was a nice home away from home. Kid friendly and plenty within walking distance. Would stay again. "

" Clean, spacious rooms and good amenities. Staff is also helpful. The breakfast is not great, but you won't go hungry.
26 November 2017There are taxis and ubers easily available from right outside the building. Rooms have kitchens, with refrigerator, microwave and induction stove. They are well stocked with plates, cups and silverware. "

" Nice apartment hotel. Rooms are so big (twice bigger than other hotels in the area) but the price is reasonable. Free breakfast. Very close to the subway station: Bencoolen in the blue line (Downtown line). "

" TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE STAYING HERE!!!
21 August 2017Where should I start off? Whoever says that the rooms are spacious make no sense whatsoever. I get it. It's Singapore, but come on! We stayed in the 3 bedroom and when I looked at the floorplan of the entire 12th floor I couldn't believe that our room appeared the largest because everything was so cramped. The TV required two controls and a few buttons to open.
Our car had a difficult time getting into the hotel because the entrance is not clear. There are many fences and ramps. I ended up being dropped off a the backdoor parking lot where we were lost until we could find the magical elevator located between the 2 and 3 floor
We only had 2 slippers in our room for a party of 5. When I asked the front desk, the woman told me that there was suppose to by two for each room (I made sure to check every drawer before asking). She still seem reluctant to give me 3 pairs.
I also have a problem with the beds. In a three bedroom, there was a king bed and TWO Queen beds. Staying at other Somersets, The standard is: 1 King bed, 1 Queen bed, and 2 twin beds. Sharing beds can often lead to awkward situations if the people traveling together don't have that kind of relationship. This underscores the issue of the rooms are so small that twin beds don't fit.
The bathrooms aren't very pleasant at all. My tiny little dingy shower allowed for little movement and was moldy. There were no towel rails to wipe my hands after washing it. There is also apparently A HOT WATER SWITCH. Not knowing this we suffered through cold showers for two days.
The Bencoolen station was closed at the time of our visit, so traveling was not very convenient. The subway lines nearby all require transfers if you want to go to Marina Sands, Sentosa, or Orchid Road. No Joke. No restaurants nearby either. I don't think this hotel has one. The Food Republic is also lousy.
Breakfast is apparently free, but I chose to skip it after giving it a try the first day. The waitresses working there are very rude, and you have to clean your own plates and cutlery. The selection is poor and food runs out in seconds. I got sick and very diarrhea after eating there.
MY BIGGEST PROBLEM!
The hotel provides your room with a mobile phone apparently good for internet and calls. I was excited to see a modern aspect to the otherwise American Motel looking rooms. The phone was not very easy to use. You could login with your Somerset account or Facebook account (who the hell has a somerset account?) I logged in with my Facebook. Yes, on a "public" phone because the Hotel writes on the phone information card "ALL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION WILL BE DELETED AFTER YOUR STAY AND NO TRACE WILL BE LEFT" Nothing was really working so after toying around with it for a few minutes I gave up, decided it wasn't worth it, and logged out of my Facebook account. It was very difficult to insert the phone back into its charging slot. I decided to leave it on top so the cleaning staff probably more competent than me would charge it. No one did.
I thought everything would be fine until I started receiving messages and notifications of friend request acceptances from people I did not send any to. I looked at my account activity and saw that my account was active in Singapore on the type of device that was homogenous to the hotel-given cellphone. I was MORTIFIED! How can you say that you deep cleanse the phone when you clearly haven't?! The damage done is irreversible, and I am VERY UPSET. You cannot trust this hotel with your information. I acknowledge this is also the work of the person now staying in the room that I had, but that person shouldn't have had the chance to meddle with my account anyway. "

" Excellent service, rooms are very spacious. The best feature however was the handy phone they provided. A free calling, Internet, and discount phone for your entire stay! Made booking cabs and tickets much easier. "

" My experience was initially limited to the lack of a response to multiple emails over 5 days.
23 February 2017I contacted their CEO and got great service.
I also believe that the 'great service' I received in the hotel was the norm and my previous contact problems an anomoly "

" My experience is so far limited to the lack of a response to multiple emails over 5 days asking a very simple question; does the kitchenette contain a kettle?
03 August 2016Customer Service is the most memorable event in an hotel stay.
Guests will always remember if the staff were helpful long after images of the rooms have faded. "
