" June 2018 update: after the renovation, they don't have fresh fish, so no more ice bags (for if you need to keep your frozen foods cold in your freezer bag); very convenient, being on only one floor, though the stock of perishables (vegetables, mainly) seems much smaller than before.

" The place is always busy with long queues of customers. You can find most things here but on some days I prefer to get my provisions elsewhere. The biggest turn off is the crowd and you can't really buy your vegetables individually. They come in packets and even if you want to purchase 1 or 2 carrots for example, you have to buy the whole packet. Very wasteful. I prefer to shop at the market in Ghim Moh or the nearby provision shops that allow me to choose my vegetables in minimal amounts. "

" This newly renovated NTUC fair price in toa payoh is a bold move towards an inclusive society for the physically challenged and the elderly to do their grocery shopping. The supermarket boasts of spacious aisles with lots of room for wheelchair users and trolleys to meander from sections to sections. Many shelves are deliberately lowered for easy reach and the price tags are larger hence making it easier to be read. While it is only a single level of shopping as compared previously to the double storey they have attempted to bring in only the essentials and may have to increase manpower to replenish the shelves more regularly. Those who buy toto or 4D will be happy to know that a small corner is allocated for that purpose. "

Two prices for 2 varieies were put in the same lot and the descriptors for both keep one to guess which was referred to. The 3rd variety was placed below the other two but I could only assume the highest price was referred to this variety. I just gave up the desire to make a purchase. "

The other dry goods and prepackaged items are sufficient for normal daily needs so if all you need is common toiletries, bread, milk, beer, cookies, frozen bacon, instant noodles, other food stuff, and basic household items like toilet paper and detergent, they have a passable selection and really nothing to complain about.
The cashiers use excessive plastic bags when bagging customer purchasers.
There is also no self checkout counters.
And as in all locations throughout Singapore, plastic bags are given away free (that is costing you another star, Fairprice, save the planet!) "

As it is located deep inside Tampines Mall Basement 1, you have to snake in and out through the crowd to get into and out of the supermarket. Recently, they shifted the items around the area which made it a hassle to try to find out where they have been moved to. " Completed renovation in Nov 2017 after months of mess. From a 2 storey store dilapidated store, it was converted into a modern single storey store. Especially like the new trolley basket that's easy to push & the automated machine to lift the basket onto the cashier's counter. There are 4 self checkout counters. There's a bench to sit down next to the Singapore Pool & also a warm/cold water dispenser.

There are at least 15+ counters (not including self serve counters) around in this supermarket in the extremely busy Tampines Mall. However the sheer amount of customers in this supermarket makes all the check out counters very very busy.
I guess with the unity pharmacy, a bank, a lottery counter all squeezed into the already packed supermarket makes it even more crowded. "

" I was treated by 2 people who work there just like a beggar. Around a month ago, the person at the fresh fish counter shouted at me for not pressing the bell for service though he was literally standing and watching me reaching handing out the fish to him. He insisted on making me pressing the bell. Today, September 26, again I was scolded rudely in a screeching manner by a staring stocker, "hey! you turn it back huh!" "turn it back". Just because I twisted a Japanese brand drain clearing product around in searching for an English translation on the label and was unable to find (yes, there was absolute nothing to explain how to use that thing in English). Also when I was trying to take it out of the shelf so that I could buy it, that box was stuck on the shelf. I was unable to remove it as it was "stuffed" in an absurd manner. (You really need to push the flap that shows product prices on the upper part of the shelf over to get the products out and risk breaking the shelfing part and get yourself scolded by these entitled people again). I explained to him why I had to turn it around but to no avail. He insisted that he was right. He slammed the flap open, and he did not get the point. I left, not taking that product. I turned it around, arranging it nicely on shelf for him to satisfy his tiny little mind and huge ego. I left feeling like a beggar. I think I will have to leave a comment here for the management who has put up a sign warning customers not to abuse their staff to tell them that we, customers, have right to not get abused by your staff either. I do not think it matters for Fairprice because somehow it is mostly government-owned and it is huge enough to ignore small daily abuses and just say these customers are bad and try to mess with our staff and our stock. As usual... This happened on September 26, 2017 at 8:30 am at the aisle that carries toilet cleaning, dish washing liquid. This is the 2nd time and I will never go there again. "

" It's ok. The best thing going for it is the 24hr opening, but shelves are stocked during busy daytime hours making it hard to get in with a pram (if you have to bring your baby). Boxes and stock are left in aisles much of the time but I assume their storage area is small. You can mostly get everything here, though some basics appear to be missing (such as tinned tomatoes), though it's not a massive issue as you can check the other nearby stores for the missing items.

That said, with land size limitations, this is not a place that I'd do my day to day grocery shopping as it is very crowded and packed, shelf to shelf.
