USEF UNEJ

USEF was formally established in November 2nd 1998 with the first President, Imam Mulyadi from International Relation Department, Social and Political Faculty. USEF’s location is in Jember University area, on Kompleks PKM Kavling Selatan No. 3. In the first year, USEF had 5 (five) divisions to cover it’s activity, they are: Intellectual Division, Research and Development Division, Membership Division, Translation Division, and Debate Division.
There are a lot of activities in USEF and debate is one of USEF activities nowdays. Debating is an activity that stimulates our intellectual capacity to solve various problems that we may encounter in life. By developing our debating aptitude, we also learn to be open-minded while simultaneously being critical in acknowledging a variety of perspectives. When it is conducted in English, debating opens opportunities to share views on a global basis. Especially in this global era where we, as a nation, will face challenges that greater than ever.
To master in debating means that we have to practice our ability by competing to another. And this is the reason why there have been a lot of English debate held in regional or national level. Not only increasing our ability in English, debate contest is arena of promoting our university, because the participants are the representatives of their university.
USEF is the only English organizations which has debating program in Jember. In the last three years we always join English debate events in regional and national level. The main events include Indonesian Varsities English Debate (IVED) on February, Brawijaya English Tournament (BET) on March, English Fiesta International Language Forum held by University of Muhammadiyah Malang on April, Java Overland Varsities English Debate (JOVED) and Pekan Ilmiah Nasional (PIMNAS) on July, Polinema English Competition on September, and East Java Varsities English Debate (EJVED) on December.
