Founded in 2013 by three people having the same passion in culinary, especially noodle. The concept itself came from the idea that they wanted to bring good quality and authentic tasting noodle in a friendlier environment. Usually, authentic tasting noodle can mostly be found in the North and South part of Jakarta, which to some people can be difficult to find. And not to think that most of those delicacies contained pork and lard, which could not be enjoyed by all people. With Mee Kepang, we wanted to bring you the same (or even better) tasting authentic noodle right in the central part of Jakarta business district which is easy to find and can be enjoyed by everyone.
Our most primary specialty is of course lies within the quality of our homemade noodle made by passionate artisan noodle. The type of the noodle we use is called “Mee Karet” (Rubber Noodle) since it is quite chewy and elastic compared to other types of noodle. Having this sort of rubber band like texture, it is decided to give the name “Mee Kepang” with the general idea that usually a hair is put together by a rubber band when it is braided. Also, during the process of making our noodle, to make it more chewy, the flour is tangled in such a way that somewhat similar like braiding your hair. This noodle after being cooked in the right way, will have that chewy yet moist sort of delicate taste which is unique on its own way.
