" Beautiful, handmade, expensive Balinese fabrics. At least you will know you bought something genuine. "

" Threads of Life is located in a by-lane away from the hub-bub of the Ubud city centre. You will truly need Google maps to find this place. It's a very tiny store with tasteful displays of indigenous textiles from not just Indonesia but all across the world. Don't be surprised if you find some bandhni shawls from Maharashtra here. Not recommended if you are just looking for souvenirs, the variety isn't out of the world. Your time is better spent reading the stories about each of these textiles. "

" It was the last day of my trip and I happened to come across this boutique. It's usp is it promotes traditional art form of weaving and dying cloth. Technique which is passed on from generation to generation. Although I did not buy anything which I regret but I greatly admired the collection. I did pick up the brochure.
11 October 2016This is a must place to visit. "

" Any lover of high quality hand made textiles will swoon upon entering this -air-conditioned- gallery. A wide variety of artisan works are available for fair prices. Fair, because this shop is the outlet for an NGO that goes across Indonesia to find master weavers, dyers, carvers etc, and recruits them to continue working with traditional materials, techniques and dyes. Additionally, should you not be able to make it to Sulawesi, say, there are videos documenting the artisans and the way they work.
09 January 2016Don't miss it! "
