" I arrived in Tulamben and headed straight to Matahari tulamben resort. The reviews looked good. However, I was thankful that i hadn’t pre-booked. i looked at a room and the standard rooms look like prison cells. they were very small. maybe the deluxe rooms are better?
28 May 2018After a bit more googling i ended up at the blue hill resort. The blue hill resort is a similar price - spacious, bright rooms in a nice resort. it’s however a bit out of the way (about a mile away from Matahari) but easy to get to with transport. "

" I didnt stay here, just came looking for a place to get a drink. The staff is friendly, you can make free use of the pool and sunbeds with a nice view over the ocean. Drinks were cheap as well. If you have spare time between diving, this is a great place to relax! "

" Didn't stay at the hotel but it seemed cozy and the staff was smiling and helpful. If you dive here it's a little rough and expect to do some things on your own. Depending on where you dive you could end up walking on rocks in your rubber sock and with a tank on your back it's quite uncomfortable and unless you're quite strong very difficult. The equipment is okay but a little on the worn down side. One thing I didn't like was walking back from the rocky beach to the hotel in rubber socks. Food at the restaurant was okay and affordable. "

" The staff and service is outstanding, friendly faces everywhere and they are always happy to help. Food at the restaurant is also very good, haven't had a meal yet that I didn't like. The dive instructors are very detsi, clearly experienced and I have learnt an incredible amount in just a few days logging my 4th dive today. Overall beautiful location, other restaurants down the road if you feel like another meal but they all serve similar cuisine which is no problem, everything is VERY cheap. Would definitely recommend this hotel. "

" Best service!! Great diving experiences, really helpful on everything. We took wrong wetsuit, the owner really nice to pick them up on our places (which is so far from Tulamben). Fast response, good food. You have to try Mahi-mahi grill "

" Hello.This place have wonderful inner spirit.Everyone who come is still welcome.They have very good location for diving and freediving or snorkeling.Smiling personal is ready at any time to fulfill your reqests.Resort is very good for divers.They have bottles with int. or din valves.When you have available your equipment it is good idea to borrow just bottles here.For usual travelers here is good food and accommodation with nice rooms and complete spa program.Come here and you will see that what i wrote is true.I wish nice staying. " Matahari is always be my top list place if I'm going to Tulamben. They offer great local hospitality. Ibu Suci is amazing owner, super friendly and humble. The diving team there also incredible! Yansu, one of the guide/DM has really good eyes for macro stuff. He is the star. "

" 4 of us stay at Matahari Tulamben Villa for 3 night while scuba diving with Marahari. Not only this villa has unbelievable ocean view the whole place is clean and neat. Transportation are provided on-call between villa and the diving center approx. 5 minutes travel time. Staff are very friendly and services are superb! We will definitely stay here AGAIN! "

Dive guide Didi was great! Great dive spots in walking Distance. Some of the younger guides should be more friendly and behave. "

04 July 2016The DM is no patience let divers check Nitrox by themself for every tank, every dive.
The package includes diving at Amed, but DM just say that there is nothing special.
We can't find our diving schedule at the billboard in front of the dive shop, we have to ask what time would be the briefing time for every dive.
Only two very very very old and poor books about creature at the dive shop.
After a night dive, our DM lost his torch, we confirm that we just take back our own torches and lights, and repeat the confirm. But after the dinner, DM with other 5 staffs just come to our room and ask to check our room to find out if we hide his torch......
The hotel service, room and food, is good for the money, but diving, no second time. "

" I absolutely loved it here! right on the beach for diving, casual morning swims and access to temple and bush walks. Food is great and staff were really friendly and helpful. Neat and tidy rooms. If you want 5 star luxury and service stay elsewhere, but if you want a more real personalized 'Bali' experience this place is the go, great value for money. "

27 May 2016All staff amazingly friendly and always greeting you with a smile on their face. They had the best instructor (Didi) for diving and would like to sharing you everything you want to know about diving.
I stay in Deluxe room. The room were very comfort and clean. There is also a safety box in the room, and it has AC. The WiFi connection was good.
Location is great! Near to all dive sites. It is just 3-5 minutes walk to USAT Liberty Ship Wreck dive site, Suci Place dive site and Drop Off dive site just few meters from the dive center.
I had an excellent stay, and would absolutely come back again if I return to Tulamben for diving.
If you come to Tulamben for diving, this is the best place to stay.

17 February 2016It is classic among Tulamben accomodations, one of the first ones to spot as you reach the divers retreat of Tulamben.
For the price you pay I find it correct, it does the job perfectly although the rooms are spartan, not inviting to spend much time inside.
The resort itself is nice, staff welcoming and the upper level of their restaurant has great views with average food. "
